A Spring Cleanse, Eating Organic, Seasonal Delights
Hope you're having an excellent week. We have some more delicious specials in the produce section with Spring produce at its best. Please note, firstly if you haven't had an email responded to over the past week, please resend your query as we were experiencing some server issues and it appears a fair few incoming and outgoing emails were lost in the process. Also, if you're forgetting to place your order by the cut off times, even with a text reminder, you can set up a standing order or receive a personal phone call reminder, if you'd like either, contact us!
Over the last week I've enjoyed my cleanse on Orange Island (see Food for Thought below). Spring is a great time to get back to the basics of real health, Make health your #1 priority. We only have ONE body, make it a great one! Even if it's only one small change you make like eating fruit at breakfast time each day. No time like the present to start a healthy, life-long habit.
For me, when I rest more, I can exercise with greater intensity and ZEST! Then I have more of an appetite and make healthier food decisions by my standards too. The combination of these three helps me address my workload with great excitement and enthusiasm, making sure to look at the bigger picture and simply take it one step at a time!
As always in my newsletters, I include some links in the Food For Thought section below about why eating Organic is so essential for optimal health. It may cost a little more now, but you either pay the Farmer now or pay the Pharma (more) later... and coming from a lifestyle before five years ago of regular trips to the doctor, regular medication, sick days and so on, I know which one is a load more fun!
I met a wholesaler of conventional fruit n veggies last weekend, who told me there's no way he would eat conventional food, he shops organic! I've met farmers who have gone organic because of the toxicity of the chemicals they had to put on their crops to grow them and their own resulting health issues. If you're eating mangoes now, or other out of season foods, its time to research how those foods are grown in order to get to your plate and consider whether that's what you want to be putting into your body. Do your research, have a taste test and get more out of your food and life. Even if you begin with doing a few foods or all simply all of your veggies organically. It's a perfect start.

What's HOT this week
This morning I dived into my first watermelon of the season. These are delicious! On the list for Thursday and Friday.
I haven't been able to eat tomatoes since returning from USA and falling in love with their incredible tomato varieties and flavours but that all came to an end yesterday when I got stuck into the mini Roma cherry tomatoes. Five punnets later, I'm wondering if my other punnets will last me until Thursday! Grab a punnet of these beauties too!
Apologies for the false alarm on the celery last week. It will be here for Thursday and Friday boxes. I'm well into my second bunch from yesterday's pick up, these are spectacular. If you have a salt craving, tomatoes and celery are wonder foods to hit the right spots.
We have a super Asparagus 3 bunch special this week. Oranges are also still on special. Don't be shy, buy in bulk!
For those of you that have your box delivered by couriers, order watermelons at your own risk as usual with courier boxes we can't accept responsibility for damaged/broken fruits. They do give us their word that the utmost care is taken when delivering!
Get that shine! New season Olive Oils from Lakelands and Aclara Coconut oil are back. The best non toxic moisturisers for your skin and hair too!
Food For Thought: Spring Cleanse - Mono Diet and Get Enough Sleep!
Lately I've been moving at full speed since my return from US, and I felt like a Spring clean was in order! I used to do 7 day juice fasts to clean out my system, but feeling the need to maintain high energy levels during the week, I took on a mono diet of oranges for 5 days with plenty of water to help cleanse out stored toxins. Even though it was only a fairly short time, this was the greatest cleansing I've experienced, physical and emotionally healing too. Its not only super tasty and healthy, I found that eating mono meals heals digestive issues that have arisen from late nights, high stress, early mornings and poor food combining. I also shifted a bit of excess weight as a result of the cleanse and feel well rested and rejuvenated from plenty of sleep too.
I have enjoyed eating mono meals recently, I've learned about the benefits from Don Tolman and Doug Graham - A mono meal involves eating one particular food for the meal until you're satisfied. We're the only beings who don't eat this way as a rule. Animals tend to eat one food at a time until they are full. It's great for optimal digestion, absorption and assimilation of nutrients from your delicious food! Variety? Sure, very important.... simply eat with the seasons and enjoy a different fruit each meal. This morning I had watermelon for brekkie, it will be oranges for lunch, until I am full.
I know a lot of people and have read about many cases of those who have used mono meals to heal a range of illnesses and dis-ease in the body. Mono meals can include eating any type of fruit and as much of it as you need until full. (Look out mangoes!... the season is just around the corner)
Enjoy your fruits as much as you care for and step away from the computer, get enough rest :)
