Drink Up
One of the keys to a healthy, youthful body is so simple…. Drink water! Water is the basis of all life and our health is dependant on the quality and quantity of water we drink each day. Every cell in our body requires hydration to do what they are designed to do! Water transports nutrients around our body, it aids digestion and is essential for the detoxification process.
This is important for everyone, whether you sit in an air-conditioned office all day, or you’re very active outdoors and even more so in the warmer weather. Hydration is essential for life! If you know this already, are you practising it each day? This is our focus of the week, to increase the amount of water we drink; it doesn’t take long to feel the benefits of being hydrated.
If you’re also looking to lose one of your chins, or shed some excess baggage, increasing your water intake is one easy way you can help your body out and feel healthier each day. Senile dementia is believed to be managed or prevented by drinking sufficient water as most of the brain’s energy is drawn from water and dehydration clogs cell fluids which creates memory loss.
When you’re dehydrated, blood vessels constrict and get blocked, the result, a headache, the cure, water! So many health complaints are caused by dehydration/water starvation, if you have any of these other health complaints, try increasing your water intake and you are very likely to notice some changes! – ulcers, chest pains , constipation, high blood pressure, chronic fatigue syndrome.
Water is life, its amazing how different you can feel from a litre extra per day, particularly when the weather is getting warmer. Its great for cleansing out the body, eliminating toxins and enhancing your digestive function. It lubricates the joints too, so often an ache or pain can simply be cured by drinking water, for more info about the healing powers of water I look no further than Dr Batmanghelidj’s work, “Your Body’s Many Cries for Water”
Believe it or not, its also one way to save on your food bill! So often when we think we’re hungry, our body is actually thirsty, asking for hydration..... drink two cups of water when you feel a “hunger pain” and so often it goes away.
Water is incredible, I find that many people don’t drink water as they don’t like the taste, when I bought my wellness filter I increased consumption because it gets rid of the nasties and tastes great. I know someone who never used to drink water at all until they got hold of a Wellness Filter. I’ve just purchased a new filter for my office and the new filters are fantastic, even cheaper than the older models, for $695, you can have clean, filtered water and save money on bottled water (not to mention the environmental impact being reduced!)
You do the maths.......
If you drank 2L a day for a year = approx $3.00 per bottle x 365 = $1095 (730 litres)
Amazing water filter from Wellness Filters: $695 plus shipping (annual or 4000L cartridge replacement approx $150) The filter lasts years. My old one I use at home is nearly five years old and still firing!
Water is the basis of all life and that includes your body. Your muscles that move your body are 75% water; your blood that transport nutrients is 82% water; your lungs that provide your oxygen are 90% water; your brain that is the control center of your body is 76% water; even your bones are 25% water (Source: Dr Batmanghelidj's Water Cure Site).
Water plays a vital role in every physiological process in the body. Our health is truly dependent on the quality and quantity of water we drink. There are recommendations for the amount you should consume daily; this will vary according to factors such as body weight, internal health, weather and level of activity, intake of caffeine, alcohol, soft drinks.
We often won't feel thirsty until we're already dehydrated and it's during the cooler months that our thirst signals come on even later. That's why it's important to drink clean filtered water even when you're not thirsty.
The Water Bottle Industry
In 2006 the global bottled water market was said to be worth US$60.9 Billion. It takes around 3-5 ltrs to produce a 1 ltr bottle of water. The amount of fossil fuel & fossil water that is wasted just to produce bottled water needs to change. If we all start using water filters for tap water we can drastically reduce the environmental & social destruction that bottled water creates. It is really up to us to be conscious and make that extra effort to get organised and actually save money by not buying bottled water - buy a good water filter and quality reusable water container that doesn't leach plastics into your fluid.
To ensure adequate hydration, we use a wellness water filter and never leave home without a refillable glass water bottle.
Think before you buy. That bottle of convenience water is affecting all of us!
We can all make a difference and reduce our waste in small ways and using a water filter and reusable bottles is one cost saving, environmentally friendly way.
