From Soil to Plate
During the Easter break, I enjoyed a day at Mt Chowan Organic Banana Farm in Upper Burringbah, Northen NSW. I was treated by Gavin to an insightful tour of the property and the royal treatment of unlimited banana and avocado consumption for the day! This visit drew my attention to the amount of hard work it takes to bring delicious, healthy food to our plates. I am so thankful to understand and experience the benefits and necessity of eating biodynamic and organic food for my body, for the wellbeing of others and the planet... and its tastier too! Next week I'm heading out to some of my favourite Victorian farms to meet growers of our amazing food, hopefully there will be plenty of taste testing!
Do you know how your food is grown? What are the differences between organic, biodynamic and conventional agriculture? What is each method of farming doing for our bodies and the environment? Why is organic food more 'expensive' than conventional food? Can the chemicals really be washed off?!
All these questions and more will be answered in detail at our next healthy event on Tuesday 12th July - 6.30pm @Miss Organic House, Port Melbourne. Come along and meet Mark Rathbone, an experienced biodynamic farmer who was brought up on one of Australia's first biodynamic farms and has worked on both sides of the farming fence! I will also be sharing research and my experiences into the benefits and importance of eating organic food, particularly for children and pregnant women as well as how you can enjoy this healthy lifestyle on a budget.
A solution to better health and a cleaner environment for our community. $12 each, includes tasty organic smoothie and snack.
