Wholefood Signatures - Cabbage

This week’s healthy whole food is cabbage.  The three major cabbages including red, green and savoy are extreme super foods!, high in nutrients and minerals beneficial for the health of arteries, veins, capillaries and brain function.  Eating this super veggie enhances gastrointestinal health, particularly when fermented in the form of kimchi or sauerkraut.  Eating cabbage regularly has been known to prevent cancer, promote weight loss and also protect the heart.  A few perfect reasons, to shred some up and add it to your salad recipes, try my Samui Salad or this week’s sweet red cabbage recipe below.  I never used to enjoy eating cabbage, but by simply shredding and combining with some of my favourite simple, healthy dressings (e.g. lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper!) it becomes delicious and makes me feel fabulous too!
